What to Wear for your Equine Portrait.

Posted on September 3, 2020 by Ruth Ellen Photography under Equine Photography

Don’t underestimate styling.  What you and your horse wear for the photo shoot will not only impact how the images turn out, but also whether they will date!

A lot of people, struggle to know what to wear for their Equine Portrait Photography session, so once you have booked your session, I send you a Welcome Pack which contains a styling guide giving you lots of examples, hints and tips of what to wear (I also help on the day if needed too).

As a very basic overview, I advise to avoid bright and luminous colours, obvious logos, characters, pictures, patterns, brand names or writing as these can all be very distracting in an image and can become the main focus of the image rather than you and your horse.

Opting for neutral shades, plain or very subtle patterns and simple clothing, hair and make up will give the best results. However, you do also want the images to look like you, so if you usual style is bright and bold, I can help you find ways to incorporate this so it doesn’t detract from the images.

Although I’m an Equine Photographer based in Lincoln, I travel far and wide for private commissions, so if it’s something that you are interested in, get in touch and I’ll be happy to help.
